1989 yılında Çin’in askeri harcamaları Türkiye’ninkinin yaklaşık iki katıydı. Nitekim 2016 yılına gelindiğinde bu oran tam 15 katına çıktı. Türkiye’nin yıllık askeri harcamaları 1995’ten beri 14 milyar dolar civarında seyrediyor. Çin’in ise 1995’ten bu yana askeri harcamalarında yıllık bazda 10 kat artış oldu.
